Heaven/Autumn in a Bowl {Recipe}

Oh.  Y'all.

I ate a little piece of yummy fall heaven this morning. And it was soooo easy to fix. We love oatmeal, but I really don't like cooking it. I don't have time to watch the stove in the morning, so I decided to try using my rice cooker. No loss if it didn't work, right? (except $.50 worth of oatmeal...)

Well, it was a success for sure. I decided to modify a version of apple pie oatmeal that I found on this blog (thanks to Pinterest ;-). Here's what I did:

Put all of these in your rice cooker:

  • 1-1/2 cups oatmeal
  • 2-1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 medium apple, cut into small chunks
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • dash of cloves *optional

I just have a cheap-o rice cooker that has "cook" and "warm." I know some people have porridge options; you might try that if you have it. I just did "cook." When it was done, I portioned it out and added butter, brown sugar, and some whole milk to taste. Aaahhhhh... I can't even overstate the deliciousness and the easiness. You must try it soon!! :D Happy fall, y'all!
