The Minivan Express {a Magical Experience}

One of my favorite Christmas traditions that we started last year is something called the Minivan Express. I got the idea last year from this post by Confessions of a Homeschooler (that site is filled with amazing printables and homeschool ideas). She even has printable golden Minivan Express tickets!! Is that magical or what?!

Riley remembered doing this last year and has been asking since December 1 when we were going to do it. Well, Tuesday night was the scheduled night! We started off by watching The Polar Express and drinking hot chocolate. Then we got the kids' jammies on and all ready for bed.

Riley was already anticipating what was coming, but she kept the secret and had so much fun being in on the scheme. The kids found their tickets on their beds, and then we got their slippers on for the journey!

 Every rider needs a ticket! (Silas always holds "Bear-Bear" that way.)

Hubster takes his Conductor duties very seriously. :-)

I love this picture!! Silas is just engrossed in what Daddy is doing - so magical!

"R" for Riley - each ticket gets uniquely punched.

All bundled up and ready for some light-seeing!
(They really were more excited than this picture makes it look.) ;-)

Seriously, I love this tradition, and we will definitely keep it an annual event.

And, an update on our Operation Christmas Child shoebox, since I signed it up for tracking, I got a notification that our box went to.......... Madagascar!!

Here's the notification that I received. Isn't that neat?

So, if I don't make it back on here before Sunday, I hope that you all have a wonderful and blessed Christmas! Love on the people you love (and on the strangers you see — you know, in an appropriate way...) and enjoy the gifts of God!!

(And I can't wait to show you some more of the gifts I got whipped up!)

  1. Soo fun! We haven't gotten to do that this year. Zack really wants to though now, seeing your post! :-)

  2. That looks so fun! We did intend to do this, but just ran out of time. At least we drove around one night to look at lights...we just didn't get to do the whole Polar Express part with the tickets. Maybe next year!

  3. Such a fun family tradition! I'll be adding this to our to-do list :) Also, I was planning to make shoeboxes this year. Thanks for the tracking tip!
