Anyway, I have a few things to report and ramble about, so here ya go...
Up first (because I know you are dying for an update...), the bangs — I am really liking the new look! And, even better, hubster loves it. :-) <3
|On the right are pictures of me with my boys at Bass Pro Shop. |
They have a great Christmassy fun area that is totally free! We had so much fun!
Numba Two... Christmas crafts! We sure are having fun with these!
Picture 2 - This is our Jesse Tree that is displaying our daily ornament crafts from the Truth in the Tinsel Advent book. This picture shows days 1-8. So far, we are quite pleased with the devotions and the crafts.
Picture 3 - This snowman ornament craft was soooo easy, fun and cuh-UTE!! Inspired by this picture I saw on Pinterest. I just grabbed a box of pearl white ornaments from the craft store, used my and my kids' thumbs to make the pink cheeks with acrylic paint, painted on a little orange carrot nose, and drew the coal eyes and mouth with a permanent marker. We finished each one off with a bit of twine at the top and of course the date on the back.
Picture 4 - I made this Advent calendar/countdown last year and saved it to use again this year. Whew! One less thing to think about, right? I printed out a free printable of all those ornaments numbers 1-24 (this was over a year ago, so I have no idea where I got it or even if it's still available), took 8 sheets of scrapbook paper and cut each sheet into 3 pieces, and matched the ornaments and papers appropriately. I folded each 4" x 12" piece into a kind of envelope with open sides, the ornament is glued on the bottom edge of the top flap. They are all hung on a length of twine in the hallway by the kids' bedroom and bathroom. Each day, the kids get to open the envelope to find the Truth in the Tinsel clue and whatever special activity we have planned for the day.
Third in the line-up... Homemade gifts! I'm a bit behind schedule, but here are a few of the things I've got cooking.
Picture 1 - It's a football softie for my baby boy. It is based on this tutorial, though I didn't exactly follow directions with the ribbon since I was just using scraps from my stash. It even jingles! :-)
Pictures 2 and 3 - Felt envelopes and notes inspired by this pin. I found a tutorial and placed the link in the comments of that pin, but I didn't follow it exactly either (are we sensing a theme here?). These are for a couple sweet nieces. :-)
Picture 4 - I am SOO excited about these little guys for my son!! They were really fun to design and paint - I enjoyed the detail work more than I expected! I got the idea from this tutorial, and I plan on making at least one more set of boys and a couple sets of the princesses for my daughter and niece. :-)
I've got more homemade gifts in the works, and I'll be sure to share as I get 'em finished.
Okay, so you know what else I love? My iPhone. I know, sad, right? But truly, it keeps me sane as my calendar, email receptacle, notebook, to do list, camera, child-entertainer...etc. You know what else I love? A good background. :-) When the Razorbacks play, I've got Hog-themed background and lock screen; I had autumn leaves in the fall.
I get it from my Apple-loving husband. He's always going around snapping and editing and sharing pictures, and it's kinda rubbed off on me. So, combining a couple of my loves — custom iPhone backgrounds and Christmas — I am sharing these two festive pictures I took for you to use, should you be so inclined. :-)
If you are viewing the blog on your iPhone (probably the Blogger mobile site), tap on the picture and you'll be taken to a separate page with just the picture. Tap and hold the picture again until the option to "Copy" or "Save" appears. Click "Save" and then head to your Camera Roll. Select the picture that you just saved, tap the button on the bottom left (the one that looks like a rectangle with an arrow). Lots of options will come up. You want the one that says "Use as Wallpaper". Finally, decide whether you want it set as your Lock Screen (what comes up when you hit the home button when your phone is asleep) or Home Screen (the background behind your apps) or Both. There you go! All set!
So there ya go. Bunch of randomness, but hopefully there's something here you can use! Have an excellent weekend!
