{Menu Monday} When the cat's away...

We plan to spend some time here!
Well, my husband is out of town all week! (*sob*) That means our schedule will be all funky, because I fully plan to drown my loneliness in all sorts of fun stuff. :-) I don't have a regular menu this week, because it's likely that a lot of our dinners will be at either my mom's or his. So instead, I'm trying to come up with a list of quick kid meals and snacks to keep on hand for when we are home. Forget the healthy eating! We're going for easy/fun this week.

Lunch and/or Dinner
  • sandwiches, chips, carrots
  • hot dogs, mac and cheese, watermelon
  • fish sticks, mixed veggies, peaches
  • frozen pizza, salad
  • celery, peanut butter
  • cheese, crackers
  • apples, peanut butter
  • yogurt, blueberries
  • applesauce

Any suggestions for us?? I always need help thinking of kid meals, even when Zack isn't gone, for lunches and snacks.

  1. my kids love the grapes and cheese combo and right now aldi's has grapes for $1.88 for 2 pounds. we also like smoothies for a meal or a snack. i do 1 cup oj, strawberries, blueberries, yogurt and a whole banana (also on sale at aldi's this week):-)

  2. Last week we did barbells at VBS(God's love makes us stronger)...pretzel sticks with cheese cubes or grapes at either end. The kids loved them. My own kids want them at home, now

    1. Great idea! I have some pretzel sticks so we will have to do that!

  3. Love the kids menu! If you are trying to sneak in some veggies to a "fun" but healthy snack, I've got a recipe for homemade yogurt pops that my daughter eats like 3 at a time (and she has no clue they have veggies in them ;)

    1. Oooh sounds yummy! Can I find it on your blog?

    2. Thanks for linking up with us! Here is the popsicle recipe:

  4. My kids love to do lunch meat roll ups. They spread a thin (or not so thin) bit of cream cheese on a slice of lunch meat (ham is most popular, turkey breast is second) and then roll them up! They can also use mustards or chutneys to add a little more flavor. I myself like to add a green onion but the kids won't eat those ones so its sort of like insurance to make sure that I get a few!
