{Menu Monday} Burnout

At least we ended on a good note --
watching the Razorbacks!
Oh y'all! I really did it. This ranks up there as one of my hardest mommy weeks ever. I did not realize that cutting carbs (though still eating lots of calories) would wack out my hormones and cause my milk supply to TANK. I tell you this only to say to any nursing moms thinking of doing a low-carb diet – DO NOT DO IT. I'm honestly not sure if it is recoverable at this point. I'm trying everything!

Anyway, what does this have to do with my menu? Well, the bottom line is, I have nothing on my agenda this week except trying to recover from the catastrophe of last week. My poor poor baby has been starving and I'm just focusing on him this week. He will starve without me – the rest of my family won't. :-)

If you have any recommendations of how to even out my hormones, I would welcome your suggestions! I'm already trying all the traditional methods for upping milk supply (fenugreek, oatmeal, water, nurse/pump often). And if you want to say a prayer for us, I'd love that too. Thanks, y'all!

  1. Oh Lauren! That's awful! I remember doing phase 1 for a bit with Asher and I felt awful the whole time.

  2. Thanks for the warning! I'm due in October and have been looking forward to cutting carbs again (it's the only way I've successfully lost weight and felt great), but I'm planning on nursing, so...I guess I'll have to hold off. Good luck!

  3. Take a day (or two), and just lay in bed with him and let him nurse whenever he wants to, and for as long as he wants to. Make sure he has a safe place to sleep near you, and you sleep as much as you can. The extra rest combined with the extra nursing and extra fluids you are drinking will work wonders!
