We had a super fun, full, summer, and now we are waiting the arrival of baby #5! She (!!! :D ) is due in about 3 weeks, and I can tell ya, I'm ready to get this show on the road.
Today I want to share with you one of my biggest life-savers as a mom of 4 (almost 5!!) little ones. As you can well imagine, I don't love running out to the grocery store to get toilet paper because we ran out. And as you can also imagine, I'm always looking for ways to cushion the budget and save money.
Enter Amazon! Many of you may have heard of Subscribe & Save, where you can select certain items sold by Amazon and get them shipped to your door on a regular basis for a discount. The discount is typically only 5%, though you still get free shipping. But did you know Amazon has a program for moms -- shockingly called Amazon Mom -- that you can get up to 20% off your items? Plus, with no tax (for most states), that can really feel more like 25-30% off. The trick is that you have to get at least 5 items per month to get the 20% off. But when you go looking around, there are plenty of things you buy on a monthly basis that will be cheaper on Amazon! I actually probably get a dozen or more items every month this way. It's totally free to sign up, and you even get 3 months of free Prime membership when you join.
Here are some of the staples in our house that I get shipped to our front door regularly, and for cheaper than I could buy at my local stores. Sometimes much cheaper!!
There are more, but I think you get the point. :-) These are all items off my own subscription list that I have compared to my local stores and found to be a savings, or at least break-even. Even if something is a break-even item, I still love the convenience and choose to get it through Amazon. But for most items, I'm saving!
You can set your subscriptions for anywhere from only 1 item every 6 months to multiple items each month. The main thing to remember is that only in the months where your Subscribe & Save shipment has 5 or more items will you get the 20% discount. So go add a box of granola bars if you need to! :-)
I hope this is helpful to you! I can't tell you how convenient it is to me to know that toilet paper, diapers, wipes, laundry detergent, etc. are not going to run out, and that I don't even have to go to the grocery store to get them!
