Valentine's Day Challenge Week 1 {Drink Your Water}

Hey everyone!  Now that Thanksgiving and Christmas are behind us, the stores are full of giant stuffed bears, fake roses, and heart candies.  Yep, Valentine's Day is happening in just four weeks!  Honestly, my husband and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day...unless you count going to Chick-fil-a and enjoying chicken nuggets over candlelight/battery operated tea light.

Even though we don't normally make a big deal out of the actual holiday, it doesn't mean I can't do something special for him.  All of us girls here at Defrump Me have decided to do a Valentine's Day Challenge as a countdown to prepare for Valentine's Day.  I hope y'all check in weekly to see what new challenges we are working on each week and join us in them.

Valentine's Day Challenge Week 1 {Drink Your Water}:
This week we are going to work on a healthy habit, drinking water.  If you're like me, you probably love your diet sodas, and cutting them out sounds next to impossible.  I remember a friend of mine talking about the only drink of water she ever got was the little bit she swallowed when she brushed her teeth.  I'm embarrassed to admit that I often did this as well.

But after feeling so sluggish and yucky from the holidays, I was ready for a change.  I started with drinking water.

Water makes up 60% of your body weight, and every system in your body depends on it.  It flushes toxins out of vital organs and carries nutrients to your cells. (Info found on Mayo Clinic website).

Yes water is extremely important for your health and body, but you may wonder what this has to do with Valentine's Day.  Ever feel like being flirty and fun when you're feeling sluggish and yucky?  We want to start the habit of drinking water the first week so you not only have the energy and desire to do the rest of the challenges, but you'll notice some changes in your body's physical appearance such as less bloat and possibly a small bit of weight loss.  Hopefully, this small change can help build our confidence and give us the desire to, well, desire our husbands.

This week we'll commit to drinking at least 64oz of water a day.  I've found that using a water bottle with a straw helps me to drink more.  If you don't have a water bottle, just try using a straw in a cup so you can sip throughout the day.  Another good tip for getting enough water in the day is to drink a glass first thing in the morning.  I try to drink a glass while my coffee is brewing.  It helps get 8oz in first thing in the morning.

If you don't like the taste of water, check out some of Susan's yummy water recipes in a past blog post, There's a Spa in Your Pantry.

I hope y'all will join us in the Valentine's Day Challenge this month!  Let us know how you're doing in the comments section, and please share any tips you have for each challenge.  Don't forget to "like" us on Facebook so you can follow our updates during the challenge.  Now let's get started!
